Fire Safety

What is 911 going to ask me?

When you call 911 they are going to ask you some questions.

These questions will help those who are coming to help you

be able to know what is going on so they can better help you.

  • What is your name

  • What is your phone number

  • What is your address

  • What is the emergency

Remember they are going to ask you some of the details about

the fire.

  • Is there anyone in the house?

  • Where is the fire in the house right now?

  • Is there anyone hurt?

ALWAYS REMEMBER GET OUT OF THE HOUSE

How do I use a fire extinguisher?

To use a fire extinguisher all you have to do is

Remember one word PASS.

P- Pull the pin out of the extinguisher

A- Aim at the base of the fire

S- Squeeze the handle to make the extinguisher work

S- Sweep back and forth at the base of the fire

REMEMBER: If the fire gets too big or you don’t

think that you can handle it GET OUT!

Help! My clothes are on fire!

Stop where you are. DO NOT RUN

Drop to the ground

Cover your face with your hands

Roll on the ground to put the fire out

Always make sure someone calls 911

to make sure that you get checked out

and you are sure you are ok.

Should I have an escape plan?

YES! Always have an escape plan for your house. Make sure that you have

at least two ways out of your house on different sides of your house it can be

as simple as your front door and your back door. If you have more than two

that is even better. You must have AT LEAST TWO ways out. If one exit is

blocked then you have another to go to and you are sure you can get out. When

you get out have a meeting spot for everyone in the house to meet. A good

place for this is your mailbox or a neighbors house. Once you are out of the house

then you can call 911. If you can not get out of the house get to a window. When

you see someone nearby start pounding on the window and making noise so

that they can see you and hear you. Be sure to practice your plan once a month.

Check out these videos they may help you with your escape plan!
