Fire Safety

He drank the cleaner under the sink!

If someone around you accidently eats or drinks a cleaner or some sort of

other chemical laying around your house you need to stay calm and contact the

Poison Control Center immediately. The number is 1-800-222-1222. They will help

direct you on what to do with the person who as injested the chemical. They

are going to ask you some questions about the person who has injested the

chemical. Try to have the container of the chemical injested in front of you.

  • How old are they?
  • How much did they injest?
  • What did they injest?
  • Are they breathing ok?

They may advise you call 911 and get the person to the emergency room as

soon as possible.

Do you where your seatbelt?

If you dont you should definitely watch this video and reconsider it.

Where should I place smoke detectors?

At the very least a smoke detector should be placed on each floor of your house. If you can put one in each of the bedrooms. The minimum smoke detectors that you should have in your house though is AT LEAST one on every floor. The batteries of the smoke detectors should be changed when you change your clocks. They should also be tested on a regular basis to make sure they are in working order. This can be done very easily. On the face of the detector there is a button. Press and hold this button til the alarm sounds. If the alarm does not sound replace the batteries and test again. If once again it does not sound the smoke detector its self must be replaced. Always remember the first two minute after the detector sounds is the most important time to get out. Remember to have a smoke detector on AT LEAST every floor if not more.
